Mindthepond asked:
Is there anybody out there who finds the Daily Mail Sudoku rated 5 stars (therefore the hardest!) easier than the 1 star one. I fact they seem to get easier as you go up the stars, or if you start at the hardest they get harder, if you see what I mean.
This is a question that has been bugging me since they changed to the six Sudoku’s in each edition!!

I agree with you
No as this would involve buying the Daily Mail which I wouldn’t wipe my a**e on. Get a decent paper.
On line they have three listed for 24 January.
The Tricky and Diabolical are 9×9. They both should be rated easiest. Neither one of them even has simple symmetry.
There’s a link below to a Yahoo Group for an 18 given, the minimum for symmetrical puzzles. It’s not just symmetrical, but is more symmetrical. It is nowhere near the hardest that has ever been found, but it is fairly difficult. The html is a little crude, but the previous message has a link to a picture that is cleaner.
Have been doing the Daily Mail Sudoku for well over a year and in general the 5 star ones are harder, it could be that they suit your powers of logic better than the lower ratings. That said I have found over the past few days that the 3 star have been very difficult. Also some times the 5 star Mini sudoku is quite easy. Have never done the 1 star and 2 star as I thought they would be too easy, perhaps I was wrong and will do some in future! I find the one in the TV section on Saturday very difficult as there sometimes has to be some guesswork but perhaps I am approahing it wrong. Happy solving
