ok it sounds like a video driver problem. as for screen size the regular Ubuntu wold me better as it is Gnome not Unity .
download the desktop one and uniboot. that to the flash and install it.
then look in the upper right corner for a icon that looks like a pc’s graphics card, thats telling you that you need to install drivers.
also next to that icon you will see two arrows ,click it and see if it shows your wireless in your home.
if not then plug it in to your router and run the update program …System>Administration>Software Updates. it will ask for a password which is the one you made when setting it up. BE SURE TO WRITE IT DOWN!! …. if you need more help e-mail me

I had a similar problem with a different version of linux and after a re-boot it worked perfectly and has ever since

It is possible that the icon sets havent installed and you could do this manually, however I would be inclined to re-install – its pretty quick

EDIT:
Could be caused by the ATI video card if you have one.
Probably the easiest ‘fix’ is to use regular ubuntu ( i do on an old toshiba laptop and it works very well) or use something like Linux mint which is derived from Ubuntu but generally sets itself up more easily than Ubuntu
Mint also has a very active and welcoming forum

You classify them as to how many different numbers can go in each square at the start, eg easy would be that only 1 number can go in a square over many squares therefore not much guessing and advanced technique is required to solve, medium is that some advanced technique is required but still a few easy squares to fill in. etc etc, i would class yours as medium definatly.
